One thing to learn from Bob McDonald

Robert (Bob) McDonald, P&G’s new CEO, sent us an internal memo; and something in that memo I feel is definitely worth capturing and worth trying in everyday life:

As a West Point plebe (freshman) I learned that I was only permitted four answers: yes, no, no excuse, and I do not understand.  These four answers are about character.  There is no opportunity for equivocation or excuse.  There is no “but.”

How good will it be if we could follow this in daily life. Imagine the tons of jargon and weaselease that we can cut out.

Cheers to Bob McD. Best wishes on his new role.

He mentioned the same story in his talk at Harvard. I mentioned it in my summary! That was very profound for me too.
